Gnocchi in Garlicky Lemon- Butter

Alright, so my over zealous attempt to make gnocchi was successful and I thank you for joining in my experiment to make it for the first time. I divided the gnocchi in two parts. I also wanted to experiment with the sauce that it was to be served in.

I made a tomato basil sauce which was a little heavy for the delicate gnocchi. For the finer palate though, I think, this garlicky lemon butter sauce would be a great choice.  Both the sauces were given almost equal marks, but if you ask me, I would give just a point higher to this lovely brown butter garlic sauce. There is nothing better than butter....and like Julia Child said that one can never have too much butter. If we were all at liberty to indulge in butter sans any side effects, we'd all be swimming in butter(in my version of the world) - melted ofcourse- though is that even possible??? I get carried away in such musings. But I'm back from butterland  and on to this buttery recipe...

Serves : 2

Complexity: **

Time: 5-7 minutes

You'll need

100 gms of butter- real butter, not margarine please- for 2-3 servings (depends on how much you drizzle)
Olive oil (optional, to replace a little bit of butter)
4-5 cloves garlic sliced thinly or diced finely
1 tsp dry Parsley
1/2 tsp red chilli flakes- crushed (add more if you want more heat)
1 lemon, wedged

Method

Start melting the butter in a small pan/ skillet on a low flame. We don't want it to turn brown immediately. Add the garlic, parsley, chilli flakes to it. I used salted butter, but if you are using unsalted, add salt to taste. Remember, gnocchi also has a little salt in it so don't go over board with salt. Saute the garlic till its a little golden in colour. Keep taking the butter off the heat if you see it bubbling. This will take approximately 2 minutes. Your sauce is almost done. Take it off the heat and then squeeze about half a lemon in the sauce. Give it a taste test. We don't want any flavours to be overwhelming. This last spritz of lemon juice just cuts through the heaviness of the butter and makes it lighter and more refreshing. Your garlic lemon butter sauce is ready! Drizzle it on the gnocchi and serve it with love. Indulge! :)
