Lasagna Bites- The Sloppy Battalion
Raise your hands if you love Italian food
Raise your hands if you love Pasta
Raise your hands if you love cheese
Raise your hands if you are like me and share my love of food
If you raise your hands for any one of the above options, you'll love what I bring to your tables this time!
I bring to you, the Sloppy Battalion.
Forging ahead towards your hungry tummies, my little adorable men on a mission.
The name was so suggested by a friend who said that the combination of cheese, pasta, marinara and pesto won't let the person be standing for long enough because they will over eat these babies.
So without further ado, here's the recipe
Serves: 4 (as an appetizer)
Complexity: **
Time taken: 20 mins
You'll need
Lasagna sheets
Marinara sauce
Pesto
Mozzarella cheese
Olives (optional)
Pinch of love
salt and pepper (optional)
Method
Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil and cook the pasta according to instructions on the packet.
Lay down the pasta sheets flat on a working surface
Spoon pesto over the individual sheets and spread evenly (you could use blanched spinach leaves for this if you wanted to) You can find the recipe for my certifiably delicious fresh pesto here
Grate some mozzarella cheese (Use ricotta cheese if available. It tastes better with spinach)
Season with salt and pepper if you want to
Take a pizza cutter and slice the lasagna sheets in 3 vertical strips.
Roll the sheets
Spoon a dollop of marinara sauce over each of the rolls. My delicious homemade marinara sauce would tickle your taste buds like you won't believe! Make a batch and freeze it to use it at your convenience. Dust your pinch of love.
Grate just a tiny bit of mozzarella cheese or use parmesan over the rolls.
Have your oven pre-heated at 180C or 350F. Line the rolls on a baking tray and place in the oven. Make sure you place it on the top rack to the cheese melts faster and turns golden.
While serving you could use sliced pitted black olives to decorate. Et voila! Here's your Sloppy Battalion- marching towards your kitchens. Indulge!
